Rainfall Update and..... Cold?

My goodness! Oklahoma got exactly what it needed Monday night into Tuesday! Check out these totals from the Oklahoma Mesonet:

Map can be found Here: Oklahoma Mesonet 3 Day Rainfall Totals

FANTASTIC! BRAVO! Exactly what we needed.

Looking ahead, I have some good news and some bad news. Weather or not you consider it good or bad news is purely dependent on if you like winter or not. Models are suggesting a major cold shot to the eastern half of the nation next week. Here's the latest 6 to 10 day temperature outlook from the Climate Prediction Center:

You can find the latest 6 to 10 day temperature outlooks here: 6 to 10 day temperature outlook

BRRRRRR! Let's investigate this closer. Here's a model simulation showing the temperature trend from now into the next week. As always, just a model, not a forecast:

GFS Model for Tulsa. Map from: WeatherBell Models

Notice the dip in the temperatures on the Tuesday time frame. That model has us only getting into the lower 40s as highs Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. Is the model out to lunch or is it up to something? Time will tell.

My forecast: Get the heavy coats ready.
