Say Good bye to Summer?

Summer officially ends on September 21, but with a cold front moving across the area Wednesday and another one expected on Friday one might begin to wonder if it is already over. Upper 40s will be possible Saturday morning for some locations across Northeastern Oklahoma, mainly near the OK/KS border. This weekend looks great with cooler and drier air filtering into the region. Tulsa has had its fair share of the heat and humidity so far this summer with 7 total 100 degree days. The big question everyone wants to know is are we done with summer for good or is this weekend just going to be a tease of fall? Lets take a quick look at what one of the models is showing temperature wise. *Note this is model guidance only and NOT a forecast.*
Here's a snapshot of the GFS Model:

Tulsa's Averages for the rest of September:
High goes from 86-78
Low goes from 65-56

The latest outlooks from the Climate Prediction Center suggest we will be below normal before returning to near normal as we get closer to the end of the month:
My own personal opinion is that the particular model I mentioned above is heating us up to much early next week. I think our highs will be closer to the 80s. My personal prediction is that I don't think we will see 90 for the rest of the year in Tulsa. I think we may still have a few days that we get very close to it, but overall I think the trend will be downward. This is my own personal opinion, Time to say good bye to Summer and say hello to fall!
